The Inclusive Communication Course
About this course
This online course helps people improve their communication with others who have learning disabilities or communication challenges.
Course content and materials have been designed to be age-appropriate and relevant for course delegates who support older (secondary-aged) children or adults. The principles taught, however, are relevant to the understanding of communication at any age.
There are six modules in this course. Each module focuses on a different aspect of communication. In each module, you’ll identify potential difficulties and consider practical solutions that can be used to support better communication and feel more confident in your communication abilities.
From the 1st of July 2022, health and social care providers registered with CQC must ensure their staff receive training on learning disabilities and autism appropriate to their role.
The training has been developed by Speech and Language Therapists in partnership with people with learning and communication difficulties, their families and support workers.
You can watch our short video and read the Guy Parkes blog which demonstrates why inclusive communication is vital.
