Dysarthria – Refresher
About this course
A course for speech therapists working with patients of all ages with acquired or developmental dysarthria. The aim of the course is to:
- provide a refresher on the neurological/neuroanatomical issues associated with dysarthria,
- review the features of the 5 different dysarthria types to assist with diagnosis
- identify approaches to dysarthria assessment
- update methods of improving the quality and intelligibility of speech
- consider evidence-based practice and real-world evidence

Professor Pam Enderby
Emeritus Professor of Community Rehabilitation and Speech and Language Therapist, OBE, PhD, DSc, FRCSLT
Pam Enderby is an emeritus professor of community rehabilitation and a qualified Speech and Language Therapist who has specialised in therapy-related research for over 40 years, with a special emphasis on measuring outcomes.
Professor Pam Enderby has received many awards and honours for her research and clinical contribution. These include Life Membership from the British Society for Rehabilitation Medicine, honorary Doctorates of Science from the University of the West of England and the University of Sheffield, the Tavistock Award for Aphasia, the Distinguished Scholar Award from the Society for Research in Rehabilitation and the Princess Margaret Award from the Stroke Association.

Who this course is suitable for
This course is suitable for: Returners to Speech and Language Therapy, Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs), Speech and Language Therapy Students, Speech Pathologists
Owing to the specialist technical nature of this course, eligibility is restricted to Speech and Language Therapists/Speech Pathologists/Speech-Language Pathologists, i.e. those who can undertake diagnostic assessments working with children and adults with neurological disorders. We will also accept Speech and Language Therapy Students in 3rd and final years of their studies on this course.
