Makaton Frontline Workshop: General Wellbeing

This new and exciting 1/2-day training for people in public-facing roles. This uniquely designed course includes everything you need to get going in using Makaton as part of communication-friendly approaches at work.

You’ll learn the fundamental principles of Makaton and experience for yourself how learning to use signing and symbols along with speech is both easy and fun! Every participant on the course receives a soft-backed ring-bound manual containing all the signs and symbols taught on the course. You’ll learn a total of 82 signs and symbols enabling you to communicate with confidence about everyday things that matter.  You’ll be able to communicate about health, about feelings, the places people commonly go, and about the things people enjoy doing.  In other words to be able to focus on wellbeing.

This course can be the start of a pathway to becoming licensed to deliver Makaton training yourself!  If, after attending the training you find you’ve caught the Makaton ‘bug’ and have the support of your organisation to do so,  you’d need to:

• Complete Makaton Level 1 and Makaton Level 2 Training
• Attend a 2-day ‘Train the Trainer’ course

At the end of this process, you’ll be able to deliver the Makaton Frontline General Wellbeing course yourself, and train up other colleagues in your organisation!
