About this course
Named for Mrs Lee Silverman (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment), a woman living with Parkinson’s Disease, LSVT LOUD® was developed by Dr Lorraine Ramig and has been scientifically studied for over 25 years with support from the National Institute for Deafness and other Communication Disorders within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other funding organisations.
LSVT LOUD® trains people with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) to use their voice at a more normal loudness level while speaking at home, work, or in the community. Key to the treatment is helping people “recalibrate” their perceptions so they know how loud or soft they sound to other people and can feel comfortable using a stronger voice at a normal loudness level.
Only certificated and licensed professionals may deliver LSVT LOUD.
This training will give you the confidence and skill to provide this evidence-based, intensive treatment for Parkinson’s, paediatrics, and other populations.

LSVT Global Faculty
LSVT Global grew out of a deep commitment to develop scientifically rigorous speech and movement treatments that improve the lives of people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and others with neuromotor conditions across the lifespan. Early on, they made it their mission to train clinicians globally to achieve excellence in providing these therapies to improve the lives of adults and children with neurological conditions.

Cynthia Fox, PhD, CCC-SLP
Dr. Fox is a Co-Founder and CEO of LSVT Global. She is an expert on rehabilitation and neuroplasticity and the role of exercise in the improvement of function consequent to neural injury and disease. Dr. Fox is a world leader in administration of LSVT LOUD speech treatment for people with Parkinson disease. She was the first to apply this treatment to disorders other than Parkinson disease and pioneered the application to paediatric populations. Dr. Fox worked closely on the development of a physical/occupational therapy program, LSVT BIG, that was modelled after the speech treatment protocol. She has numerous publications in these areas of research and has presented extensively nationally and internationally.
Jessica Galgano, PhD, CCC-SLP
Dr. Galgano received her doctoral degree in the department of Biobehavioral Sciences from Columbia University in NYC. She has presented at national and international conferences and has authored and co-authored publications related to neurologic communication and voice disorders. She is a specialist in treating cognitive communication, motor speech, voice, and swallowing difficulties due to stroke, TBI, head and neck cancer and other pathologies and holds secondary certifications in nutrition and meditation. Dr. Galgano is a faculty instructor at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and is the Founder and CEO of Open Lines Speech and Communication (OpenLines.com), where she provides LSVT LOUD® and other types of therapy to adults and children with a wide variety of speech and language diagnoses.
Course topics
Built on three key strategies to make the treatment as effective as possible LSVT uses:
- Target: Vocal loudness (amplitude) – evidence-based strategies for learning and neuroplasticity (the brain’s ability to change).
- Mode: Intensive dosage and high effort – intensive and high-effort treatment that encourages people to achieve more by working ‘louder longer’.
- Calibration: Generalisation – ‘recalibrating’ sensory feedback so people recognise their new, louder voices are within normal limits, and comfortable to use at home, work or play.
