Therapy Outcome Measures (TOMs)

The pressure on therapy services has never been greater. Clinicians and service leaders are increasingly expected to demonstrate not only how much activity takes place, but also the real difference therapy makes to people’s lives.

Therapy Outcome Measures (TOMs) provides a practical, evidence-based framework for measuring meaningful clinical outcomes across rehabilitation, habilitation and therapy services. It is suitable for use in all settings and with clients, service users and patients of all ages. TOMs is based on the World Health Organisation’s framework and developed by Professor Pam Enderby and Alex John over more than 40 years of research and refinement. Therapy Outcome Measures (TOMs) is now one of the most widely recognised cross-disciplinary outcome measurement systems available, with 85 specialist scales covering a broad range of clinical areas.

This highly practical one-day workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to using TOMs confidently in everyday clinical practice. Through real case examples, guided scoring exercises and discussion, participants will develop the knowledge and confidence to begin collecting meaningful outcome data immediately within their own services.

The course is delivered by Professor Pam Enderby, Dr Alexandra John, Freyja Bell and Dr Sue Pownall. It draws on decades of research, clinical experience, and real-world implementation across health, education, and rehabilitation services.

Participants wishing to become accredited trainers within their own organisation may also progress to the optional Train-the-Trainer programme.
